VW Phaeton for me =) or the S55.

Very nice cars, but the price between both of them shoud be very big.

The Audi is less budy not more

And the Phaeton W12 is extremely limited in production numbers compared to the A8 or any of these cars actually

You are probably talking about the 4.2 version of the Audi and you are comparing it with the w12 VW, wait for the 6.0 version of the Audi and you 'll see which one between these two is going to be more expensive

You cant compare the 4.2 V8 Audi with the top of the range W12 Phaethon, you have to compare oranges with oranges and apples with apples, ok?. So if we are talking about what is available right now you should have initially compared the prices of the two V8 models, thats my opinion. Without having it checked i am sure that the audi's standard equipment is poorer than VW's so VW is in the reality cheaper

Then we should compare the normal S 500 not the S55 and the 745 not the 760 and the normal XJ not the XJR we want the best of what is available and I listed both Phaetons because of the Audi only having the V8

If you wanted the best of what is available you should have mentioned the v12 s600, , i seriously see your point but in order to be able to make the best comparison of all of them we'll have to wait a few months

Audi A8 like the best IMHO, but otherwise I'd take S-Klass.
