205GTi was the daddy,
nowFrench cars seem to be safe but heavy and slow. Drove a 207GT recently and there was almost nothing good about it.

I'm not really familiar with French cars, but I quite like the design philosophy of Citroen -- very unique, polarizing (much more than Bangle'd BMWs) and exciting. By that, I don't necessarily mean those cars are beautiful...

Don't like French cars, the build quality and reliability are B-A-D.
Then... there are the exceptions, like the Clio RS, The 205GTI, R5 turbo, etc etc, where you don't bother at those things, just want a fast and hot hatch, and the French do them very good!!
And then, there's the Bugatti! But that's another league!!!

My experiance of frech cars is that the engine is very reliabale but the electronics can't be trusted.

/\/\ Reminds me of something JC said. ''If the Italians and the French meet up to do some cooking they will do great, but if they meet up to do a car, Run! Run for your live!''

You've got it right!
The Espace, Laguna, Vel Satis... they all offer the same kind of stuff you can find in a top-end Mercs. The only difference is that in the Renaults, all the gizmos will stop working after the second year, while in the Mercs... they'll last forever

Beautifully said
