That car looks kinda strange to me.............I saw Evo mags spread of the R-8 in all black and it looked amazing but since looking it up and seeing it in different colors something about it just looks off. Its certainly not what I would call ugly......it just looks a little off. Dont know why.

haha so true :roflmao: but quite frankly from the photo evidence i call BS on this picture. there just has to besome kind of dark reflection on the bumper...

Actually, due to the convex nature of the bumper, reflections would only be visible for items taht are almost behind the car, not under the bumper - as an example the white line extending into the distance.
But be that as it may, if this is a current photo, then it is not "testing" - exactly what would testing this late in the game achieve? The car is already on sale, it's not like they can engineer a solution to any issues that "testing" uncover - it is sort of... whats the temr? Oh yeah -- too late int the life cycle of the project
So you Audi fans better hope he hit a rock or did some other physical damage to crack the sump - imagine the catastrophe if he put a rod through the block - you know, like those uber-relaible M3's

I dont think that photo proves anything really. I think it looks more like tar that is used to repair road surfaces, not oil. If it were fresh oil I think the oil itself would be a little more reflective. Even though its in the shade of the car, I would expect to see some light reflected in it.
Even if it is oil, I dont think that photo alone should warrant any fears on the reliability of the car. Who knows why it happened? Maybe, like RC suggested, the driver hit something and ruptured the sump or something else like that.

Well, yes, but probably not a large puddle of it.
But I agree that this is hardly anything to worry about.

well considering that that oil would be pretty damn old and dirty to be that black and not have a slight rainbow effect to it would make it sound kind of bogus to me. and to leak that much oil (over a quart) you would have to do some major damage like not have a gasket somewhere at all or not tighten something down all the way.

and why would that be hillarious....
The R8 doesnt stand back from the Gallardo in any way other than for bragging rights owning a lambo...
In fact the R8 prototype with the V10 where faster than the murci so its not a worse car in any way, its just the badge and both the Gallardo and the R8 share alot of the same engineering....
|
Im not talking about the car itself, the engineering part and so on. After all the effort and work they made an astonishing car, I think its great honest!
But its still an audi..
If somebody asks you what car you drive and you say its a Lamborghini you get a different response then when you say I drive an Audi.
Not that Audi's are bad cars, thats not true at all, but I mean the image is different then Lamborghini.

I don't know about ford, but GM cars are routinely ranked higher in quality in surveys then audis. (reliability wise only, anything else is subjective anyway). VW in this country has a reputation for being one of the absolute worst when it comes to reliability.
That being said, this is the point of said testing. The jury is still out.. And the gm cars arent exactly competing with something that will msrp for over $100000. For that price I expect reliaility.. Your 10000 dollar car starts leaking oil.. eh.. .Your 100000 dollar car starts leaking oil.. well ya see my point.
Then again bmw and mercedes have let this down in recent years as well.
