Nothing new really, i´ve heard from that before the actual Veyron was released. I´m anxious if they´re capabel of doing it though. But i think they will 8)

I understand Bugatti's attempts, seeing as how the new gen Saleens and other car makers have managed to put the Veyron in the shade with claims of higher top speeds, but I call this BS. Just think...how difficult it was for Bugatti to prepare the car for 1000BHP+ conditions- tyres, cooling etc. 5 FREAKIN YEARS !! So claims of 1200 are a bit optimistic to say the least.

And the Chiron was a concept car, it was first shown even before the Veyron.

Thats insane. Forget the power, they gotta make sure the brakes hold up. We have all seen F1 brakes blow and F1 cars weigh nowhere near what the big Bug weighs.

Forget the Bug. A 700 hp warranted salon is just overkill. The old 470hp E-class had trouble keeping traction even with electro-toys.

Maybe Merc's plan is to kill off all the old rich people that will buy the car, so they can focus on the younger generation. There is no way that 80% of the buyers of a car like that will be able to control it. Electronic or not.

I can see it now. 60 year old CEO, Mr. Dunglebee, tries to accelerate on a wet entrance ramp to get up to speed with the other cars.......and into the wall he goes. Good job Merc....good job.

If I'm not mistaken, Piech's original concept W18 was 3 rows of 6. But this had some obvious packaging issues with exhaust and intakes side...

Consider that the Veyron destroyed both an Enzo, a CGT and a Zonda in evo magazines comparison test. When they relocated to B-roads the Veyron parked them there too - prompting evo to proclaim it the fastest roadcar they'd ever driven. Theres something about 500 spare hp to pull downforce with - I'd say the Veyron seems to work fine on real roads.

Bumping power 20% from 125hp/l is probably a question of basic upgrades. Even today the weakest stock engines produce 30-40 hp more than quoted and given the 250.000kkm life expectancy of the 16-4 engine there is obviously a large margin to exploit in the design. Which VW Audi turbo engine has failed to support big power upgrades?
