notice BMW sold as much as 30% more cars than Mercedes-Benz did in 2004. i don't want to get into your guys' rather pointless argument. but i think the number can pretty much explains itself.

If you wanna bring up raw numbers...go get some Chevrolet numbers...or Chrysler numbers. comparing them head to head is not the point. That depends on numerous factors, mainly production numbers and numbers of cars imported to this country in the first place.

BMW's anual sales was increased for 6.9% over previous year. whereas MB's annual sales was only increased for 1.3% over the previous year.

furthermore, production number and import is only a factor of the sells if the demand is significantly greater than demand. which is clearly not the case for both company.

Lets, see here, the 3 series is once again in Car and Driver top 10..which makes 14 straight years..E30 to E46 i haven't seen either audi OR mercedes do that.

yes sales figures have dropped a bit, but remember, the E36/7 ended it production run in 03, so you saw a drop off there. The M5 also was not present for 2004, nor will it be for most of 2005, however presales from what i understand are doing well.

As for the E46 sales dropping due to the E90 being close to release, yes, from the E46 owners i have spoken with (which is quite a few) alot of them are waiting to trade their E46 for the E90. So there is some validity to that statement.

there has been a slight drop yes, but i wouldn't make too much of it. '05 is going to be a strange year since we will be seeing the release of the E90 in September for the '06 model year, and possibly the M5 closer to December (just in time for the holidays )

the decrease in sells in simply becasue it's been diverge to other model that fit them better.

with the introduction of X3, some potential X5 owners who doesn't need that much space will inevitably start to consider X3, and possibly purchase X3 over X5.

same goes to the new 6-series.

and now Mercedes-Benz is going to sell CLS (and a lot more models based on C-klasse). i am sure a lot of sells of E-klasse will be diverge to E-klasse as well.

furthermore, the sells of 2004 E60 5-seriesv(only sedan) is 21% more than 2003 E39 5-series (including touring, sedan, and M5).

side subject everso what do you think of John Mayer? i just got 2 of his cds for christmas. Heavier Things, and Room for Sqaures. Is your music anything like his? I like the song Daughters alot, and also No Such thing and clarity.

I notice one thing is that early BMW models always do well in their initial cycle. After a year or two it always dips significantly.

These numbers are nothing to be excited about.

Yeah yes, when the E90 comes out it'll do well initially. But how well will it hold for a BMW life cycle of 7 years?

If I remember correctly, the E36 sales numbers has always been pretty consistent. Look at the numbers, even in it's last year of full production the E46 is doing very well.

But look at other numbers such as the E65 or the Z4. A significant drop.

Yeah, you also really gotta add the exact 34,000 or so of X3s sold. Yes it is created in a different market segment, but at the same time, you can't say that all of those people would have bought an X5 if the X3 did not existed. So yeah, the numbers are inflated.
