@ Gnome: The last time I was in Norway (it's a long time ago), there were a lot of really long tunnels without any lights in it. Do they still exist? Because it was really special do drive through them. Here in the central of Europe, most tunnels are illuminated.

I think most countries have some very nice B-roads, where you can have the thrill of driving them. Certainly in the mountains you can find a lot of nice roads.

The Stelvio Pass in the Alps is commonly know as a nice road, although it's very twitchy and narrow with it's endless hairpins.

New tunnels are of course illuminated. I think they have installed better lighting in most of the old ones, but there are some short tunnels in low populated places that still are dark. If there is a turn in such a tunnel hiding the exit, you really feel alone.

We are few norwegian in a large country, so we can't afford to keep the road standards as high as many want them to be. I think it's fine because it's fun to drive corners.

roads are really shitty here in mexico, the one ive used the most is the mexico city acapulco one, which i kinda like cause it has a lot of turns but the problem is the pavement is mayor crap u can go fast, but u cant afford to really go fast cause in one turn u can find a bump, hump, hole or something to make u loose control or fuck the suspension of some cars, also there are like little humps in straight lines that make u jump...
sooooooo, the best road so far ive driven is the NY to NE highway, i cant remember if its the i-87 or i-95...
roads ive been driven in that i like is the milan to lago di como in italy, and the lago di como to lugano which i liked too, not cause it was too wide but fun to drive

By car: The road to our village where we stayed this summer. Our hotel was lying just above a cliff next to the Lake Garda in Italy. To be exact, the Hotel was in the City Tignalé.

By bike: A road that went from Verbier (in Swiss) down in the valley. We must have overtaken some 10 cars/trucks

To be honest on bike it's much cooler then in a car. You can feel the wind and you have to use your whole body to keep you from falling. I get a really big kick out of it! Everey time I'm in the mountains I try to go mountenbiking at least once.

The suburban roads I drive every day - those are the ones i drive the most and know the best, so it's sorta like you want to take it faster every time. Plus there's the added factor of, "well if i gas it here, i won't be able to avoid a car around this blind bend, but i could always take it a little slower and be able to pull it back into my lane." there's also the raised manhole covers, potholes, dips, etc. that only you know about. 6am on sunday's are fun little race days in suburbia new york.

I did it in a BMW Z3, it is more like 4x4 territory really, it's only tarmac for the first couple of miles, then its paint-wrecking, gravelly mud!!!

well last year i did the drive out east..
cabpt trail and most of cape breaton was pretty cool..(i have some pics.. jsut cant seem to get them one here.. any help would be appreciated.)
Smokey mountain was pretty cool.. had lots of fun in my focus svt.. wish i had it over in europe.
In toronto.. there are a few good roads... rosedale valley road is nice.. especially late at night when you can push it alittle

I remember the roads from Lyon to Val Thoren (france) were really cool, but every time i went there was during winter and obviously it wasnt time to do anything fun... not to mention the fact that we had a Renault Multipla

This winter I went skiing in Val Thorens. And idd those roads leading to the skiing area are quite fun to drive, but there are nicer roads around

btw, a Renault Multipla? Is it a car with the front end of a Fiat Multipla and the back end of a Renault Scénic welded together?

theres loads in the UK, just flick through old issues of autocar, top gear and evo to find them (i dont have any one hand at the moment), i think one of them did a whole article on britains best driving roads.... ill have to try n find it. Most b roads here are fun tho
