Ok i'll make the effort of taking this lightly but i will ask you to be careful when you say things with a negative side. I love 3d. I sacrificed 2 years in my dads basement, not just a month. My degree cost me 15 000$. You offended me by not contemplating the potential collateral damage of your statement.

i'm not saying i don't like 3d, but the description that was given to me was "freaky" to me anyway:
What do you guys think... i think this is the wierdest thing ever... these guys mest spend hours designing their ideal woman, because they can't get a real one
|
and when i open the site, and see that 3d face, it really freak me out.

Yeah I do spend time modeling as a hobbie, even tho I get frustrated cuz its so hard. Miss digital world is everything to do with skill, nothing to do with a sexual nature.
X-ale: what program do you use? Im into Animation master and 3d Max, I'm nowhere near the standard of the artists at missdigital world but, I do impress myself time to time. Here is a picture I made back in December.
It was meant to be a Halo themed picture, kinda looking out of a ship at Halo.

How much do you think i make per hour modeling in one of my 2 modests apartments with 1 of my 5 pcs? I have a g4 also but thats for audio only. And how much do you think I charge for the other hours the puters spend rendering alone? I'm 28, I have a orange copper Fiat Palio 1.6 in Brazil, a black/grey Toyota 4Runner (Hilux) in Quebec and i don't see a flake of snow cuz i move evry 6 months from summer to summer. I only test designs in 3d (cad) for architects and engineers. By being my own employee, I now just make about half of a senior modeler... so about the same as a junior and a third of a senior animator. I don't just hang out with my friends, I promote whole parties and book DJs, mix and remix beyond your imagination. There I met my gf, a real woman, not a girl. Gimme a number now, i'll give you a hint: it's in the 3 figures.

Is there really that much market for independant 3D modellers? To me it always seems like Hollywood actors.. That for every one like yourself that has the ideal situation - there are a bunch of "starving artiste"..
Nice that you are doing what you really enjoy.

I use mostly 3d studio cuz it's compatible with cad since Discreet is owned by Autodesk. But my weapon of choice is Softimage XSI for now since i have Maya Unlimited but haven't got the 5000$ for the 2 week training program. Yet. Check ou 3dcafe.com for tutorials. BTW, I wouldn't have done close to yours without going to school. I prolly would have PS the background

I thank my folks evryday for that. That's also why i'm in the simulation side of it. There's a pretty big market in the virtual prototypes and industrial design side. Art will always be a luxury.

well i dont get much time, its a lil hobbie i got going on, I got a big ass 3dsmax book and jeff lew's trainning DVD to help me Its all good. I have had some pretty cool matrix type animations going on in A:M and have made good models in wing3D, but when i had to reboot my comp , and lose all my files  , thats when I went in pissed off mode, I had a pretty close match of killer bean ( www.jefflew.com) and other pretty good models. I just need the motivation to start again.

YEah those killer bean animes were pretty funny. You should run the server back-up files. It basically saves a copy of your work as you go along. Max comes with the server emulator. When it's activated, it saves automaticly. Anyway, every 3d editor crashes whenever. Lately, i've been thinking it might be the airflow to the gpu cooler. It's like they come with PMS, you never know when it might go berzerk.

Im not clever enough to do all this server stuff, I've been told to make partitions and all this, but I can never seem to do it, just dont have a clue. I'll have to find out before I start doin 3D work again cuz it so sux when you lose everything. I even lost the jeff lew DVD becouse it was the divx version, and I payed to get it off the Divx site, now its gone
