I looked at that exact list actually, and based my reply around it. That list is from 2002 or earlier, so I adjusted slightly for drivers like Ralf Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen, and the natural increase that has occurred over the last 4 years, and is only going to increase substantially again next season (for example, Ralf Schumacher is now making around 20 million, not ~6 million as reported back then). Also, don't forget to note that those dollar amounts are in british pounds, which equate to nearly double the amount when converted to USD.
And I never denied that there was a gap in salaries, hell, I clearly agreed on it, but you were going on about averages, and on average the modern salary is at the very least 2 million, excluding any outside income or race bonuses.
And by the way, I'm actually watching the NASCAR pre-race show at this very moment, just like I do every weekend, so you can be the one to go and weep thank you very much.

would a losing team really pay that much for a losing driver?
ralf is another case of a decent driver with either a good, great, or poor car in relation to the field

I don't quite get what you're trying to say with your post, but yes Toyota does pay him that much, more than likely just for his last name, and I suspect because Toyota seems to love pissing away enormous amounts of money.

just goes to show that pissing money around doesn't make you a contender.
Based on Ralf's last 3 seasons, i wouldn't pay him 20 mills...

How so?
Montoya wasn't going anywhere in F1.. unless Renault of Ferrari wanted to sign him.
His move to NASCAR will be good for both him and NASCAR.
Now if only they raced on more road circuits instead of ovals.

Well BUSCH is heading up to Quebec next year for a road race, hopefully Cup will follow suit. Road races are pretty exciting with 43 big ass stock cars barrelling around, there definitely needs to be more of them.

Face that facts, he's crushed by Kimi. He prolly realize that also and will prolly not able to win the wc unless the current top 3 quits.

Where ever the job goes I guess. But I gotta admit, this is quite a downgrade.

WOW well I always tried to find reasons as to why like him but last race he took out his own team and now this, he can screw himself in the a-hole.

I have told you before... I don't post or suggest bullshit. Here is an example of the type of data that is out there - if you bothered to look for it. It may be older data but all indications are the same salary spread is true.

Read em and weep.

On average, F1 drivers are underpaid in relation to other drivers.
You are just angry because you hate NASCAR, and it turns out to be more of a money maker than your precious F1.
For the record I dislike both racing series

JOLIET, Ill. -- Why would Juan Pablo Montoya trade Monte Carlo and Melbourne for Darlington and Martinsville -- and likely take a pay cut in the process? Montoya, who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2000, will try to translate his open-wheel success to NASCAR.
The Formula One star said he's looking for a more enjoyable atmosphere and a new racing challenge, and thinks he'll find it in NASCAR next year.
"It's not how many millions you're making or how much money you're making," Montoya said at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday. "It's a matter of, three years down the line, are you going to be excited at what you're doing or not? And three years down the line, when I look at my career, I'll be a lot happier doing this."
