New pics of the 997 GT3 RS spotted at the Nürburgring this weekend.
This car is going to be awesome, it looks so agressive in its widebody suit!

I also read something in a magazine about an RS version to be unveiled in in the end of 2006 ... Why not

GT3 RS ?!? Hummm It looks just a gorgeous GT3, to me !!
I hope the RS will look different than the normal GT3, just like the old 996 8)

To see a Porsche 997 GT3 in this state of test at the Ring when the production model was revealed indicate to me that there's strong chance that it's a improved model of the GT3, like a RS version.

^ Yeah, but still it looks quite notably wider at the rear compared to a normal GT3, or is it just me?

The pic is quite old actually - previous to the GT3 launch at Geneva if I'm not mistaken...

I based my remark on the pictures that Svensson posted, but after several observations I must go to the obviousness that it's simply a 997 GT3. Nevertheless, I find that curious to see a 997 GT3 with the black color scheme tested on Nordschleife Ring last week.
The future 997 RS will probably look like the 997 GT3 Cup IMO.

Other than it not having the regular GT2 front end, why is there not speculation that it's the knew GT2? I just really doubt that they would already be working on an RS since the last one came out very late in the 996's life, and the 360CS isn't even out yet. Whatever it is it looks promising

Interesting point, but I don't think the black car is the 997GT2. It looks exáctly like the other GT3's we've seen, except for the wider rear wheelarches. I think the GT2 will look a lot different i.e. different front (like you said), bigger airintakes (like the 997Turbo), entirely other back-end, a different spoiler etc.
Of course it could be a test mule, but then I think the car would be a lot more covered up with tape etc. To see an almost production ready car looking exactly like a GT3 but only wider, leads me to the conclusion that it could well be the new RS. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking...

Just read that the respected Dutch car mag "Autovisie" is also claiming that the lightweight 997GT3 RS will be unveiled next autumn and that it will have the widebody of the Carrera 4.
Again, no official news of course, but Autovisie has it right most of the times...

Well that makes sense, i just wanted to bring up the option, and wow that seems really early for an RS, can't wait!
