Why they keep fumbling with that stupid Northstar piece of crap engine. It is full of useless technology and underperforms by a huge margin.
Wait a second!!! Doesn't that describe the ultra luxury department to a T. All it needs is to lose some reliability and change the badge to a 3 point start and you have mercedes!

actually the M5 will only come with the new 7-Speed SMG transmission.
The article I read from autoweek less then a month ago indicated thats still up in the air. Global wants just the smg, North America wants both.

Well I can't be 100% certain about the tranny, but I read a few months ago in the Polish version of Auto Bild that the US will be a getting a manual version due to pressure from customers'

Yeah until someone mods the M5

~until someone mods the 7liter CTS-V (super-V anybody???)
again, power/weight advantage seems to edge to the caddy... and chassis tuning may edge to BMW, but only just... i would rather have the old M5 warrented by Dinnan @500+hp then the new one

^^^ Well there are a couple of 427ci CTS-V's running around Houston - and at least 1 427ci Twin Turbo CTS-V running around - I seem to remember it was either Mallet or LPE that did it up specially for some mad fucker with wads of cash.

I was relating that to the STS-V, I don't find the SMG by any means a slushbox, recall that it's a computer controlled manual. No torque converter in the E60.
