why must so many cars have the ugly parking aid!? is the right side rear-view mirror tilting down not good enough!? IMO, it makes the rear bumper look soo ugly...

this is not the 7 series idrive, this is the updated and more user friendly I Drive. And that interior is magnificent. They hit the bullseye there, not to much to take away from the driving experience. and that steering wheel, look at the grip you get.

hey man, I used to dislike the idea as well, and driving a 530i with the SMG didn't help much...until I found the sport button which did wonders....then, just yesterday, I drove an M3 with the SMG for about 1.5 hours throughout the day, mostly on tight backroads, and lemme tell ya, that SMG system is marvelous. The SMG on the M3 can do something like 150-millisecond shifts (comparing my memory with a stopwatch), and they're dont well. For someone who wants stickshift but doesnt want to always worry about everything involved in shifting yourself, then the SMG is awesome. There are some of us car enthusiasts who would prefer an SMG to a manual for everyday driving with a car like that. Also:

now that is amazing. If the SMG on the M3 (sport button on, DSC off) is aggressive and quick enough to make the tires squeal going from 1-2 AND 2-3, then i can only imagine how good the new M5's SMG is gonna be...hopefully they'll implement that new SMG into the M3 (7- or 6-speed)
