personally... i would go for a Range Rover and a 911 Turbo.

Don't worry dude. He likes the idea of an F430 cos of the cruising and racing sides of it.

go for 430 or 360 cs
they are both great cars... cs is more exclusive..

but the waiting list for a 430 should be pretty long

Yeah?? We have had the M3 for 2 years. Business has been sold and new one bought.
Well - as a true auto enthusiast with a 120K quid to blow, getting into and out of a couple of different exotcs over a 3 year period might be the most fun.

Get into a 512M for a while, then turn it over for a 550 maybe, spend a little while in a Diablo GT, swap that for 360CS and then maybe an SLR to close out the 3 year stint.

This way he doesn't blow his whole wad prematurely - and gets to try a couple hot chicks before finally settling on something special down the road.

Unless of course he gets his rocks off on impressing the neighbours with the latest and greatest

The question is - is he into swapping cars to prove he has arrived, or to quecnh his automotive thirst?

Just looking for ideas cos you guys know lots more than us.
Well, why does your dad want to buy such an expensive car? Is this a car to be driven, or to be driven

I would suggest a F430, but they command a slight premium at the moment.

Then a DB9 - a beautiful car, and a British one 8) Still quite difficult to come by, but the usual specialists have a many nearly new cars that have barely been run in.

A 911 GT2, or a GT3 RS, would be fun, and a serious too for the track to, if your dad is into that kind of stuff.

Whatever you decide, keep us updated

One last suggestion - get him an M5, and get him to buy you a nice flash new car [/quote]

AMV8 Vantage would be my choice. It's definitely on the "cheap" end of the scale that's been suggested, the performance is certainly not poor, and the noise is good too. It's got a reasonably large trunk and should be comfortable for two people, both on the road, and on the track. I know RC45 is probably going to suggest the Vette, and it's certainly more than a match for the AMV8 in terms of outright pace, but it doesn't have quite the same panache nor quality of materials in the interior. The Porsche 997 (S) would be a lot of fun, as would the 996 Turbo, but ever since the Cayenne came out, I haven't had much interest in Porsche, I think they kind of fucked up by making an SUV. The M5 is definitely the choice as far as practicality and speed is concerned, but the Ferrari F430 just barely fits in at the top of that price range, and it's a hell of a car, though I'd certainly get it with a real transmission instead of the F1 gearchange. Anyway, that's my two cents (and then some). Have fun figuring out what you're getting!

Uhm - I wouldn't suggest a real car like the C5 or C6 Z06's --- he's coming of an M3 - he is used to slow and poser.. What's he gonna do with a fast car ??

LOL a little more, cheapest new Pagani Zonda is well over £350,000 AFAIK. Now i know they say unless you can afford 2 supercars don't buy one an all that, or "if you have to ask the price you can't afford it", but suggesting something 3 times the suggested budget is probably a bit much

One idea to help your dad decide what he wants, would be to perhaps join one of the supercar clubs like Damon Hill's less worries for the car and he can sample a variety of current supercars. Certainly impress the neighbours , hell if i could spare that kind of cash it would suit me I mean here how often do you get a really nice day to enjoy it?. Only problem is i guess you can't use it on track

since hes on a 218,447.39 budget, i guess a 430 wouldnt be a bad idea.

anything anyone of us has to say doesnt matter one bit since we dont know what direction your dad wants to go in.

does he want a
sports car, 430, Gallardo, 911T, 550 etc
sports sedan, m5, new m3, merk of sorts, anyone of the S or RS Audi models
maybe a track car and a sports sedan

you need to ask your dad what his direction is and then let us know and we can give ya better suggestions.

Nothing specific, hes open to any sort of car really. A Zonda would be nice lol but I don't see that happening!! My dad spoke to the BMW dealer and they said the new M3 is out late 2006/early 2007.

We will probably sell before that comes out.

What other options are there for about £120k max?? Preferably something fairly new.
No the 2006 Model Year will still have the E46 M3. If you are looking for the E90 M3, that will probably be at the earliest 2007 if not 2008.
