Default Ferrari Theme Park?

In a recent press release regarding the 60th Anniversary celebrations for Ferrari, there was the following:

The “Ferrari 60 Relay” will kick off on January 28th in Abu Dhabi, site of the future Ferrari theme park,

Has anyone heard anything about this before?

I translated this news from a brazilian news website.

"Petroleum affects the world. It affects even more when the idea comes from the guy that own 8% of the whole world´s petroleum.

A giant land space inside the persian golf will be used by Abu Dhabi, to build the Ferrari World, a hi-tech theme park that will have race simulators, roller coasters, theathers and a circuit when you´ll get to race a real Ferrari! The cost of this park is estimated in Us$ 40 billions.

To give the tourists a special support when they come visit the place, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi will spend over 6.8 billion dollars to improve Abu Dhabi International Airport, where Etihad Airways, his airline, was launched, in 2003."

There is one picture showing an illustration of the theme park, but I´m not allowed to post links yet. As soon as I can, I´ll post here.

Scheduled to open in 2009, the new Ferrari Theme Park will cover a massive 250,000 sq m and will feature 24 themed attractions for all the family, including a 70-metre-high G-Force Tower and a twin rollercoaster ride that for the first time allows races against each other. Moreover, there are go-karting, rally driving and dune buggy tracks, and a vast array of food and beverage outlets.

In addition to the Ferrari Park, however, the 2,500-hectare Yas Island will also host a motor racing circuit, signature hotels, apartments, villas, a wide selection of restaurants, a retail area of about 300,000 sq m, golf courses, a water park, a tourist marina, a hotel overlooking the lagoon and numerous food and beverage outlets that will create a unique international tourist destination.

The Ferrari Theme Park project and construction, as well as the whole Yas Island development is by Aldar Properties, and the total investment for the Park is of around US$600 million.
This is wierd and slightly worrying

it's a Disney park, everybody knows what Disney is, and every single kid in the world wants to go there...
Yes, but they have Disneyland in California, Florida, Japan, and Hong Kong as well. And they are all pretty much exactly the same. This new park is special.

To be perfectly honest, as ridiculous as this sounds, I qouldn't mind going there. Too bad the entrance price is likely to by very very high.

I agree. I dont understand why a Ferrari Park would be anywhere outside of Italy in the first place.

I agree that Dubai has or will have amazing things to offer, have been there in 2001 and since then, a lot changed. It's for sure worth a visit

About the F-park however - I agree with Dani, even if Dubai is expanding like hell, there won't be enough visitors to make the theme park running in the black figures.
Disney is visited by families, but I don't think many families will visit a F-themepark, especially moms and daughters won't be happy
Only car enthousiasts , fathers with theirs sons will be there - so if Disney has problems, the F-park will never make profit
