How many watts PSU? Anyways its still gonna around 2500 I bet.
Case round 50
Mouse and Board round 50 as well since they are wired.
the Wireless and blue tooth let say a 100.
And for the Mobo say we spend 400.
So in end it near that price you said maybe might be cheaper if its all from one dealer such as newegg so free shipping. Anyways I am gonna fire up the old PS2 box while I still can and play GT4 because in a few more months both GT4 and the PS2 will be collection dust.....and for a good reason! The application of this desktop requires 4 cores. Conroe can't SMP.
Linux isn't an option.

Symmetric Multiprocessing, or SMP, is a multiprocessor computer architecture where two or more identical processors are connected to a single shared main memory. Most common multiprocessor systems today use an SMP architecture.
Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symmetric_multiprocessing
Sorry for updating all the time but I need to add this
mainboard
-must be able to handle 8 FB-DIMM slots
-three full-length PCI Express expansion slots and one double-wide PCI Express graphics slot to support high-powered, double-wide graphics cards
audio card (if built-in to mainboard strike this out)
-optical digital input and output
-analog audio input and output,
Because of today's events I think Vista will be delayed yet again by a few more months. MS will adjust the release to something close to Q4 2007 or even push it to 2008.
Speaking of Vista is it a true to honest God 64-bit OS that can run 32-bit & 64-bit apps side by side without emulation or translation? Will 32-bit drivers work with Vista 64-bit?
