Aston Martin goes rallying with the V8 Vantage!
Aston Martin is entering a V8 Vantage in the French Tarmac rally Championship.
Autocar Magazine:
Aston Martin is set to enter the world of rallying with an unofficial entry on this season's French Tarmac Championship.
Former Formula 1 driver and works Subaru star Stéphane Sarrazin has entered this weekend's opening round of the series, the Lyon-Charbonnieres Rally, in an Aston Martin V8. The French series includes a 'sportscar' class, so Sarrazin will be out to defeat Porsche GT3s and even a Lotus Exige in the same category.
The project is the brainchild of Frederic Dor, the French shipping magnate who has rallied and raced with Prodrive-built cars for over a decade. It's unclear if the entry is a one-off or if Dor plans to pitch the V8 against 911s on a more regular basis.

Awesome! But I gotta say that the new GT3 will kick its ass. Good to see Aston Martin in a rally, those are words I never thought I would say.

I like the idea of it. It is a Prodrive tuned car, so it probably will be competitive. Wasn't Frederic Dor the one who asked Prodive t build the succesful Ferrari 550 LM?
In Belgium there is also a rally standard production GT Class. I like the idea of such a class beside the WRC cars. I heard there seems to be a list of cars that can be entered in this class, I'm curious about what cars are also on that list.

heh, Nice try Aston, but the Porsche's will have you beat in a rally
Atleast the rally driver will arrive at the finish in style though..

Interesting proposition. I doubt it will win, though.
