Electric Car v. 360 Modena and CarerraGT
My friend knows the CEO guy...
11.98 @ 117 MPH
Apparently, it topped out before hitting the end of the 1/4 mile so that's also its terminal verlocity.

why would u swap the supercharged CTR engine for an electric engine , even if it still ran in the 11s ???

Its impressive, but remeber the atom's chassis weights nothing compared to a CGT. But dont get me wrong, i give it credit.

the only problem about electric engines are the batteries.. performance from an electric motor is amazing.. its INSTANT power and torque.. im suprised they squeezed everything on that small chassis... but i doubt that car doesnt run for more than an hour or two.. can probably only run a couple drag races for each charge..

i'd really only respect it when it is running 6's in the 1/4 if it needs to be charged inbetween runs... (like rebuilding a block between runs in top fuel)
but running 117 in 12s really not that impressive when the chassis is only 1/2 the wight of a normal sportscar... which is why honda 4 bangers do it in an atom chassis.

electric cars have been capable of good performance for a few years now. I recall seeing something on Tech TV 2 years ago showing an electric car which did 0-60mph in 4 seconds. Still a low top speed like this one, but pretty impressive, and with a more substantial body shell.
the one in this vid is really impressive though. would be interesting to see it against a Veyron 8)

Where I did my undergrad, I was on an electric car team for awhile. The chassis was basically an open wheel setup with the batteries on the left and right side between the from and rear tires (about 48 motorcycle batteries iirc). It didn't really use anything special, just an electric motor out of GM's first electric car, the EV1. For us the car needed to do quite a few laps so the battery weight was considerable, but man, that thing would easily break loose in second if you wanted to. We went through quite a few VW beetle transmissions (they had straight cut racing gears too). It was always fun to watch the rev counter fly to 10,000 rpm in a second too
Still, I never would have expected it to beat a carrera GT!

The only problem that I have with electric cars is the noise.... there isn't any !!!! If only electric cars had the sound of a Ferrari or a Zonda F
