The picture is not a fake. The driver is count Rossi driving his 917 from Stuttgart to Paris.
His car got its registration an license lates in Alabama, with one condition, never show up there...
Porsche could not get it road legal in Germany.
But it was road legal in teh states. The car was a former testbed for a anti brake locking System ABS. Its fate is unknown to me.
The white 917 was road legal in germany, you can see the original german license plates. It was buildt up from frame resepcting german laws for roadlegalisation.
It is not easy to get a racing car through the german TüV (Technical Observation Union), but somehow he managed it.
Bye the way I saw a report about a road legal Porsche 910.

Definetly not my Opinion. I Think a 917 on the road will draw more attention then a Carrera GT...

there's a difference between beautiful and attention-drawing ofcourse...that orca thingy car from switzerland (google it if u dont know what im talking about) will draw LOADS of attention, but if that's a beautiful car, im santa...

for a racecar it looks pretty good, altho to be honest i think there are better-looking racecars. Still i htink the CGT looks better...but hey opinions differ...
