hhh... the add says 1999? The if it is a an FRC (fixed roof coupe) it would be one of the few they made in 99 and 2000 before the Z06 performance options were added.

Is the the 1999-T refering to a T registered car?

The HUD would have been added from parts at a later stage.

How much are they asking?

Something like that would probably fetch about $25,000 around here - at the very high end.

The Z06 is a very good handling car. They are very commonly on the podium of class racing events here in the US. The V8 grunt is fun to play with also.

Personally I can't stand them though. The power and chassis weight is wonderful, but the looks are bland and the quality control sucks. The interior is classic GM click plastic and cheap vinyl (that's if you get the luxury package). The almost standard automatic should be illegal.

I can say that beyond that they are fast and they corner better than most.

Then it can't be a Z06 - only 2001 through 2004 - it can only be an original FRC.

Not quite. Nice urban legend type material though

There is no such thing as "luxury package" for the C5. All Corvete C5's have the save level of interior appointment.

There were different seat types and colour choices for the coupe and vert - but the Z06 only had one interior option - all black or red and black.

The Z06 could only be had with a 6 speed and the same interior as the rest of the line up.

Couple other little details such as 6600rpm rev counter and Z06 graphics and power driver - manual passanger seat.

Anything else you need to know?

The Z06 failed to meet the wimpy noise regs they have in Europe...

Strange as it passes all of the Repuklik of Kalifornia rules and regs- yet is a couple dB too loud... *shrug*.

So all the rest of the world got was the Z51 suspension coupe.

contrary to what you guys may believe, there is a thriving american car community in the uk and by that i dont just mean classics , im talking specialist sports and utillity vehicles .

You can get pretty much anything in the UK with the exception of the H1 Humvee.

A neighbour of mine who has a country retreat in Norfolk , told me theres a farmer near where he lives who just purchased an SRT-10, imagine that all those big open fields and 500 BHP to play with!

i personally have seen a number of corvettes on a daily basis, I live and work in the heart of london so i tend to see a wider spectrum of cars then folk such as GIS who wont see such a variety .

Near where i live there is an American Community Armed Fprces base or some shit like that where the overseas soldiers or airforce are posted. These guys all drive American vehicles , its not uncommon now for me to see an F-150 lightning, ive seen so many near where i live its practically a regular siting!

anyway here are some sites of notable UK importers :

www.bauer-millet.com

one of the best in the business, these guys sold a fleet of Vipers to some Soccer Stars not too long ago, those of you with a keen eye would have noticed the tabloid press picking up on it (assuming u live in the UK)

www.usacarimports.co.uk

www.americanautocorp.com

and these guys

www.americancarimports.com

who have a vast array of American sports Cars !

and at £72,500 on the road it seems somewhat of a bargain compared to a ferrari 360.

have a look at some of those sites and let me know what you think

Fucking awesome.. £49,995 inc VAT for a 2004 Z06.. - now THAT is a bargain for you guys..

http://www.americancarimports.com/st...ail.asp?id=137

I can see why they sell em - and I also know why folks buy em

anyway i really hope at sum point i see or meet up with sum1 here with a Z06 as i really wanna see what they look like up close and what the performance is like.

the add in max power says....

Chevrolet Corvette 1999-T
Mettalic black,41k miles.uprated air filters and
borla exhaust system.450hp,heads up display
very rare american supercar.no jokers please
0-60 in 4.3 seconds and top speed recorded at 196mph
Well I'm thinking of taking my trans am back to the UK next year and I've been quoted 850quid per year fully comp (full coverage) by Tesco. A couple of years back I was paying over 600 on a Civic VTi Coupe (Si to the US). I'm 29 so it's not that prohibitive - remember our insurance rates don't go down siginficantly until you're thirty. As a comparison I've been quoted over a grand on a UK spec Monaro.

As regards the advertisement - I'd say it is pertaining to a normal C5, rather than a Z06, yes the hp seems on the high side for a stock Vette with just the borla and filter upgrade but then the ad is in Max Power, it's likely it's 'optimistic' and also the seller doesn't seem to be offering any Dyno results as proof! If they have 'proof' of the top speed such as a picture of the speedo then it could be 10% inaccurate at that sort of speed, or a piccy d/loaded off the net.
