WMP 9 problem
I have a problem with Windows Media Player when playing videos. When I play a video (it happens with all videos) its fine up unitl the last 20-30 seconds when the picture goes completely black but the sound is still OK. I have got the latest version and have tried re-installing it but it hasn't changed anything.
I usually don't use WMP but the others (BS Player and DivX) won't play the .wmv files so I have to occasionally use it.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

I wish I could be of help but I cant think of any reasons of why it would do that. I would sometimes get that but towards the end of each video but not so much anymore. When you play those videos in another player does the video completely play?

I had before this problem. Reinstalling video codecs should solve it.
I usually get the codecs at www.codecpack.com

Yes, they work fine in the other players.

Thanks for the help but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.

hmmm...in that case since the videos work with every other player perhaps you should download some new WM9 Codec and what not. time to update.

I think my WMP is cursed.

You happen to have ffdshow or XviD installed? Perhaps they took over the mpeg4 decoding in WMV. I find their decoder to be a little bit buggy at times.

^ I'm not sure about that, but I don't think so. How do I check if I do have it installed?

When you're playing the bad .wmv file in media player classic, right click and goto Filters. Check the list of filters being used to decode the video. That'll really help to find out what caused the problem.
