Hum, there is a thread where Jabba asked the same because he deleted an F1 review, search on the site. But most important, don't save anything else or it could overwrite the "deleted" datas (which are in fact always on the HDD until something else will take its place).

ill concur and say dont save anything else until you find what you're looking for, but we ran a data recovery on an old PC at work, running WinNT and found install files from Win3.11. So thats not necessarily the case. you'll be real suprised at what kinds of data you can find with the right recovery tool.

I use Tune-Up Utility

http://www.tune-up.com/

It has lots of features, one of which enables you to recover deleted data

As said a above there are utilities. When windows deletes it just removes the pointer to that place in memory, the data still exists there. All these programs do is find that pointer before its over written.

If you over write it though theres only one way to retrieve it and thats classified. Apparently the nsa and such can retrieve deleted information that is rewritten up to some number of times. I know thats not helpful to you, but I figured some people would find that interesting.

the NSA insisted a program called 'Lost and found' be taken off the market due to its ability to even retrieve data off re-formatted disks... etc. if you can find it, i believe its the best out there

ill see what i can do, however, i think the next time im home will be around the same time as the interview (its about 45 minutes from home)

in all reality, i shouldn't have it... and you were right that almost immediately it was removed off the market... a few shipments made it through, and undiscovered by the govt. i found it a few months later at Hamvention in Dayton, OH for 10$
