Yea, i have seen some 2nd gen rx-7s with chevy 350's in them. They are pretty quick because the car is light but it takes the uniqueness away from the car. The only engine swaps i would do on a rotary would be the 20b from a cosmo.

yeah wait for the new RX-7 replacement. It looks great. The RX-8 is a gorgeous looking car, although it is highly impractical. the rear sits one and a half at most, and even then it's really cramped. The driver has to be a shorter than 5'4 to get the most out of the rears. I was in one recently, and i tried the rear seats. Frankly it felt a little claustrophobic.

why would you want to put a V8 in an RX? Sooo heavy compared to the Wankel.

I don't know. The last RX-7 was the FD35...so maybe like the new is FD45? or FD36? Sorry, I really don't know though.

IMO, I will get a used Rx-7 if you can find a mint condition... that means no accident... any other parts can be replaced easily... if you have the money...

Why I choose the Rx-7? The Rx7 is more a sport car to me than the Rx8.. the Rx7 is a 2 seaters.. so much sportier... if you tune the turbo probably, you can have so much fun on winding road or track...

Unless you want to be a little bit practical... then you may want to go for the Rx8

Just to let u know, its FD3S, not FD35. The one before it was FC3S so maybe the new one will be FE3S. Who knows.

id go with the RX-8. warranty, and more reliable than the old RX's. but the car looks a little lumpy.
the FD rx-7 is an awesome looking machine but it seems that its a lot of up-keep.

Well, i figured that the money i save if i buy the FD would go towards problems and mods on the car. I have general knowledge of cars so i could do most myself like i did my mustang. Even though rotary engines are way different, i think i could learn. Anything to save a little money i guess.
