Keep the good work up mate,5 days already and things can only get better when not smoking.personally i dont know how hard it is to quit coz im not a smoker,but my mum is a light smoker and she found it hard tryin to quit so i can only imagine how hard it is

but keep it goin day by day and im sure you can kick the habbit outta your life
if u feel the need to smoke,come on here and tell us,use JW like a nicotine (sp?) patch,lol

i have never smoked in my life, not even tried it, i just dont find it "cool", and everyone that smokes says it suks and they want to quit, likes omeone in this thread eh emm...

so i woudnt know, but i say tell ur friends that may also smoke that u r tryin to quit and instead of u smoking tell them to take them away from you, or just make it for yourself, if you really wanna quit and u propose it to yourself i trully think you can overcome it.
u can do it if u put ur mind into it...
oha and everyone elses ideas r good too

I also have never smoked in my life.

Some people I know used to be heavy smokers (2 packs a day) and have succeded in kicking the habbit

. But there are also numerous friends of mine who can't force themselfs to stop

... a cigaret free week seems to be their record

.

Every day that you go without a smoke brings you one day closer to the day when you can look down your nose at your wife and say "you started smoking, I still haven't touched one yet".

Now if thats not an incentive I don't know what is.

Almost two weeks!!! Yay!!!

Although I have spent as much on nicotine therapy products as I would have on cigs at $2.75 a pack...

...much more incentive in the UK where the nicorette stuff is considerably cheaper than ciggys...

...anyway, it wasn't about the cost, it's more to ensure that I don't work all my life and drop dead before I get to put my feet up for my retirement!! :shock:

Glad to see you are still keeping away from the cigs transam! I have been known to have a smoke or two while out on the town...but when I started dating my new GF she would have none of it, even just one smoke in a week, So i dont anymore. I still have one here and there, but now I dont even like it, so basically I dont touch em anymore. I never found myself addicted, tho I would never smoke at worst more than 2-3 cigs in a day.. so I dunno how much you need to be addicted, but sometimes I feel like one when I see others smoking. So my addiction to them was a small one, and I am sure yours is a strong one. Im glad ur still on track, keep up the good work, save money, your body , and trade in that Trans am for a Ferrari 355 in no time!

Emphysema riddled lung

My mom tried to quit many times some 30 odd years ago. Finally, while still smoking, she noticed that her throat was feeling really sore. The doctor told her point-blank that if she does not quit now, her throat is going to get worse and she will die. She finally quit and is still here today, 75 years young. My grandfather died of emphysema when I was 6 years old, he struggled for his last breath and died in the cellar. Up to that point he was still smoking.

I should really not have even started - my Grandma (who never smoked) has very bad lungs, she uses a nebuliser and the steroids she has to take have made her back arch. Her husband (my grandad of course) died of heart disease. My other grandma died at age 67 (I was too young to remember her) from lung cancer caused by smoking.

My dad is an ex-smoker and was forever telling me to give up over the years.

It was funny today, I was packing my DVD player into its box which has sat under the stairs for 2 years - what did I find in the box? A single camel cigarette. Needless to say I ripped it up and threw it away

I'm sure it's reallt rough. My mom had the urge to smoke for many years after she quit. I thank the doctor because he scared my mom really bad that day. She was crying days after she spoke to the doctor, but he really drove his point home.
