I would love see some perfomanche stats of big red.
Nothing comes close.
And think think they kick ass if they fit a shorter gearing for the 0-200-0 shoutout.
Pablo and the high power cars will have to be very good to beat big red.
Big red 1-0 for the other cars.
Here is the hot rod magazine article of big red.

Yest maby their are some cars that can beat big red.
But must be one hell of car to beat big red.
Any ideas on possible big red beaters??
Btw to beat big red you need a car that is very fast in straightline brake very good and corner fast.
So that counts out most high power vipers out.
Maby this camaro can beat big red.

Maby this could beat it.
Banks power project dmax type r
Road race diesel truck with 650 bhp and a torque of 800 lb ft.

Gale Banks Engineering is building a twin-turbocharged, diesel-powered endurance road-racing pickup truck that will be competitive in its class (Super Unlimited Class in the National Auto Sport Association - NASA). The pickup truck body, a GMC Sierra, will be mounted to a NASCAR-style tube frame chassis. Power will come from a highly-modified Banks twin-turbocharged General Motors 6.6-liter Duramax LLY diesel engine. Beyond that, the D-MAX Type-R will weigh in at virtually the same weight as the Corvettes that run these events. However, the pickup will have far more torque and better fuel economy. The Type-R has been designed with the engine offset and setback to achieve a 50/50 weight balance both side-to-side and front-to-rear, like the best sports and racing cars.

Support from General Motors, Bosch and Honeywell’s Garrett Turbochargers relate primarily to race engine development. Like Banks, these corporations are interested in promoting diesel engine potential. The Banks/Duramax racing engine has a projected power goal of 650 bhp and is targeted to run at engine speeds as high as 5,000 rpm. As dramatic as those numbers are for a 6.6-liter turbodiesel, the really impressive number is the power goal of 800 lb.-ft. at lower engine speeds. This will propel the Sidewinder D-MAX Type ahead of the competition.

Because the truck will be raced in endurance events that last from three to 25-hours, durability is of key concern to Banks engineers and engine builders. Construction of the truck is well underway in all areas: engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes and body. The innovative technology created for this race-bred vehicle will highly influence the build of the Sidewinder D-Max Type S street truck.

These benefits will allow the Sidewinder D-MAX Type-R to be competitive against its tried-and-true gasoline-powered counterparts. The Sidewinder D-MAX Type-R’s turbodiesel engine will be more fuel-efficient than its gasoline-powered rivals. It should prove to be a fierce competitor. We will keep you advised of developments as the D-MAX team, headed by Project Manager, Curtis Halvorson and Crew Chief, Sheldon Tackett, bring the Type-R to completion.

It's a tube race car that looks like a truck.
That want to make street versions of the truck.
Here are some pics of the street version.
And it would be cool to see diesel "truck" racing next to a dodge viper saleen s7r and cars like that.
This vs big red.

Big red wins Z2Z Shoutout.
I was right about big red kicking ass.
No streetcar can touch it

The Z2Z "Big Red" Challenge
Presented by
Baer Brake Systems
In conjunction with
The Silver State Classic Challenge Inc.
May 14th, 2005 Ely, Nevada
Six competitors vied on Saturday, May 14th for the opportunity to be the first winner of the "Z2Z Challenge" in Ely, Nevada.

Sponsored by Baer Brake Systems & Bryson-Dwyer Communications, the challenge is to see who can produce the lowest ET for a standing start to 200-mph and back to zero (Z2Z). The acceleration distance was limited to one-mile, with an additional 7/10ths of a mile allotted for stopping.

The top 2 competitors were RJ Gottlieb's "Big Red" Camaro and Jerry Mall's K&N supercharged Viper GTS. There is no official winner as nobody was able to break 200 mph within the mile limit. However, "Big Red" had the best overall time of 41.0 seconds at 179 mph, while the K&N Viper had the highest top speed at 181 mph with an overall time of 46.4 seconds.

Zero to 200-mph in any distance is a tall order, but limit the distance to 5,280 feet and then add in 6,500 of elevation above sea level and you are talking a magnitude of difficulty. Barometric conditions further raised the effective air density to that normally witnessed at over 7,600 feet. The conditions reduced horsepower an estimated 15%.

Later that day, after making a gear change, Big Red was able to achieve 186 mph in the "Flying Mile" (a standing start, 1-mile run for top speed). A lot was learned in these events and next year Big Red will be back to break the 200 mph barrier!
