...the point is that stunts like this shouldn't even be on the show... we want to see fast cars beaten to hell, and timed around the airfield test track by the stig.

Of course, that is a big part of the show, but doing that for a whole hour week after week, year after year, is going to get a bit dull. Top Gear is a good mix of serious car testing, as well as some light-hearted stuff, and the occasional crazy stunts.
