Default FORD FOCUS RS8

Ford took a Focus RS and fitted it with an NA 5 litre V8 engine producing 420 hp. They've uprated the suspension, cooling system, exhaust system, racing gearbox and made it RWD. They hardly changed anything about the exterior, which is great IMO. I think it's amazing...

From what I've heard it will be sold in the US. The engine costs around $15,000.

I'm not sure if it will be sold as a whole car or only as a conversion...

Anyway I think here in Europe we will "only" have the Cossworth one

Anyway to see a Focus and to know it has 8 pots and RWD is sick

I read that Focus is getting a 2.3L next year and there's a 2L turbo charged version (based on RS?) coming soon after. Wonder if ford really ironed out all the problems for the american spec focus...

not just any old 5L engine, but a cammer 5L. Cammer is basically a Hemi thats why it produces over 100hp more than the standard 5L that used to go into stangs. They're putting this engine into everything at Sema, so they'll probably have it in a lot more cars in the future. My question is; If theres going to be 420hp in the top of the line focus, what are they going to do to the top of the line mustang to trump it!?! 550hp!?! Because it will obviously be a lot heavier than the RS, and it would be kinda stupid to make the mustang slower than a focus. So my guess is something outrageous I cant wait! lol

You have to realize that the RS8 is actually only a concept car, just like the FR200 was a few years ago. The RS8 is a package that could theoretically be put together, but I don't believe that Ford has done that for mass-market consumption yet. As for the Cammer...it is NOT a Hemi. A hemi has hemispherical combustion chambers, whereas the cammer does not. The Cammer gets its power boost over a standard 5L version of that engine by a serious reprofiling of the camshafts so that throttle response and valve timing are different than in the standard engine. The hemi is a completely different concept. Rather than having the cams reprofiled to change performance characteristics, the Hemi (in theory), due to its hemispherical combustion chambers, has a better, and more thorough fuel-air mix before combustion, and THAT is supposed to improve output.

My god. This is cool. Car companies should just start putting big V8s in every car. I hate ford, but I want that one.
