In order to increase US sales they "Americanized" it... and fucked it up...
Just the same way GM "Europeanized" the C6 to increase sales in Europe - and fucked that up...

How the hell is it Amercanized? Anyways, the reason is that BMW's top designers are American and Belgian. They suck!

you know, i think its gonna look alright?.
people are always resistent to change, but this is conservative enough not to blow people of the water, but still evolutionary to attract newbies.
compared to the mercs styling i would take this, but it would be a tough choice against the new audi A4.

I think the front is OK. The sides are over-styled and have too many scallops. The rear looks too pinched because of the shape of the lights and the curve around the trunk.
The rear lights looks like a stretched version of the CLK.
Maybe the least ugly Bangle car (after the M Coupe)
