Default Why the SLR doesn't cut it.

This is just something i've decided to pick up from another thread, since it seemed to be straying from the original thread's point.

The SLR. It doesnt deserve to be called by the names SLR and Mclaren.

McLaren, as we all know, are embodied by one thing : the F1. The greatest road car of all time. The ultimate driver's tool. The SLR, is nothing more than a fabulously quick and expensive GT.

The original SLRs were Sporting Lightweight Racers (ok, i dont think SLR stood for that, but this makes sense, i suppose). The new SLR weighs in at 1700 ( ! ) Kgs.

Does anyone else feel that the spirit of both the F1, and the original SLRs, are hopelessly lost with the appearance of the 'Mercedes-McLaren SLR-powered-by-AMG'.....?

Oh, feel free to knock any other misnomered cars.
