New Maserati GT Coupè

Maserati's spacious but sporty GranTurismo will enjoy its world debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show.

The 2+2-seater GT is fitted with a 4.2 litre V8 engine that produces 302 kW and is mated with an automatic transmission. An adaptive control system adjusts its gear shifts to suit the driving style and conditions.

Maserati boasts a 49/51 front-to-rear weight distribution on a car that that is said to be much roomier than its predecessor. Reportedly just shorter than the Quattroporte sedan, the GT comes equipped with a redesigned suspension using a double wishbone arrangement with an adaptive damping system.

Coachbuilders Pininfarina, responsible for styling the first Maserati Gran Turismo concept unveiled at the Geneva show back in 1947, was again commissioned to for this latest incarnation 60 years later.

The Spyder, which should be launched later this year, will for the first time be fitted with a metal folding roof.
