Mercedes-Benz CL: Here are the latest photos of the new CL - out on final testing before its official unveiling early next year. Safety: Although the CL will not get the recently-scrapped SBC brake-by-wire system, expect a very high level of technology and electronic aids, including lane departure warning, active "parameter" steering and the latest iteration of the Pre-Safe crash-sensing technology. Engines: Engines for the new CL will be a 5.5-litre V8 (CL 550), the 5.5 V12 (CL 600) and the AMG 6.3 V8 (510bhp). Platform: Based on the newly-launched S-Class platform, Mercedes' top-end luxury coupe retains its conventional long-booted two-door outline, keeping it distinct from the four-door CLS "coupe". This is one for the Merc traditionalists.
