that not true, your friend was unlucky and he find bad car,
im sure M cars are not bulletproof, but are still average comparing to other brands,
bmw is gigant company, and M cars are contructed for action on roads,
look how many old bimmers are on roads

I'll agree with you on some of that. My friend's car was pretty bad, and I hear that E46 M3's are pretty unreliable and have had alot of big recalls put on them. I also read in edmunds that there have been some reliability issues with E36s... but it was all or nothing - what i mean by that is either the car was awful or perfect - and it seemed to be the minority of owners.
One thing that I don't like about those things is that you pay out of the nose for them. I wanted to get an E36 M3, but those were significantly more expensive than the LS's because of supply and demand.
