This has been on the news all week here in Oz...but what wasn't written in that article is that the kid driving had twice lost his license already and on this occasion he was doing between 150-200kmh in a 50 zone, so he was bound to get hurt sooner or later.
Its still a tradegy because no one deserves to die, but you would just assume that people would learn from previous mistakes which this guy obviously didn't.
