Well, the purpose the LSD is not to maintain even tire wear. The LSD helps put power down evenly. If you're in a drift and you're just lighting up the inner tire, you car will slow considerably more than if you could break traction with the outter tire with the grip. You'll also be able to maintain the drift angle longer because you'll be able to slip the tires longer. I think not having the LSD in the M12 actually helps keep it from falling into a snap oversteer, seeing as how it's so willing to oversteer as it is.
