My dad has a 95 Opel Kaddet 1.5 turbocharged engine with intercooler and it accelerates very fast. But purists don't like turbos very much, cuz a car with the same power and no turbo (naturally aspirated) accelerates faster. It is a simple way to raise the power of a car.

nooo.. turboed engines have broader torque curve than naturally aspirated ones, so car with turbo accelerates faster (taking equal car weight, gear ratios etc.) 8)

I don't want to be rude, but please guys quit posting threads from how stuff works. We could have thread upon thread about whats covered there. One thread that says try how stuff works for basic automotive tech is enough.

personaly i think turbo are amazing things, incresing the power of small capicity engines is something that is quite remarkable
"turbo the replacment for displacment"
aswell as awsome AWD systems (such as that found on WRX's and Evo's)

it is quite intresting to understand how they work and evreything associated with them.
