Default 2006 ALMS Championship pictures

Obviously by the title, these are not new or even recent, but I thought you all would like them.

They are photos I took of the 2006 American LeMans Championship race at Laguna Seca. I went there in October with some friends as a roadtrip up to Monterey.

The bulk of these photos are from the race car work area, and staging area. Everyone who goes to the race can walk around looking at the cars and even talk to the team/drivers. It's a very open and friendly atmosphere.

During the weekend of the race, there are 5 races going on. The ALMS race, Formula Mazda, Porsche GT3 Cup race, Speed Touring car, and Speed GT. All these for a $50 ticket.

This is the folder with all the pics, there are.

Also I shot a small vid from the stands using a digital camera. Its kinda shaky, but it shows the difference between the audio you get on TV broadcasts, and the real thing.

Very Cool! Back before ALMS came to my backdoor (LBGP) I always day dreamed about going to Laguna Seca for that race. I still want to do that, but Long Beach gives me the fix I need to make it through the year until school is no longer in the way of the October Monterey race.

It looks like the Speed World Challenge had their final race there for both the GT and ST classes. What was the open wheel series there?

Check out some of the LBGP pics from this year.

The Formula Mazda series, rotary powered. Not particulary fast though, it's a rather jr level series.
