Default AM Vanquish Ultimate Ed. & Manual upgrade

Though production of Aston Martin’s flagship Vanquish coupe is nearing its end, the prestige label has announced it will be building a limited run of just 40 examples of a new Vanquish S Ultimate Edition. The cars will be handcrafted at the company’s Newport Pagnell production facility in Buckinghamshire and is available only via special request to very select customers.

Changes over the regular car are mostly visual including the new ‘Ultimate Black’ exterior color, matching semi-aniline leather and black chrome finish interior fittings. Each car will also be fitted with personalised sill plaques denoting the limited edition number. No additional charge will be made for the Ultimate Edition, available only with the 2+2 seating arrangement, priced at £182,095.

Mechanically, the car remains much the same, however, Aston Martin is offering existing Vanquish owners a transmission conversion from the car’s existing Auto Shift Manual (ASM) system, to a conventional stick-shift manual at a cost of £13,250. For years, motoring journalists and Vanquish owners alike have been complaining about the incredibly slow gear changes of the ASM box. Engineers have spent over 12 months developing this conversion to ensure there are no problems with the new manual.

20K USD for a freaking manual transmission conversion. They must be mad. For that price they better add some power to that engine or toss in an upgraded exhaust or something. SHIT

Here is a better idea. Sell your precious Vanquish and get more precious DB9 - problem solved.

Meh...no changes really...just a new colour. This is becoming a trend amongst all the major exotic car makers. Good news about the manual, though 13k is a lot of cash I;m sure many Aston onwers will be willing to pay the fee to change the flawed transmition.

Does anybody know when the Vanquish replacement is due to appear ?

I'd also prefer the DB9, but if i'd get a Vanquish for 182k pounds i wouldnt mind paying more 20k for a decent transmission.

I love the look of the Vanquish. And the hell withe paddle shifting. Please don't let the DBS (pimped DB9) be the replacement. Build a new Vanquish!

Love the Vanquish too! Every carnut does!

They should have never put that gearbox in, I still don't understand why they didn't fit the standard model with a manual :bah:

It's not going to be. Although the Rapide will be the flagship of the company now. And what's wrong with DBS? Precious wants the bling...!

It's Aston. They can do whatever the hell they want.

Autumm 2007 - and it will be called DBS
Nope, Am is going to remake the Vanquish from top to bottom.

Additionally, the limited-edition DBS will be entering production, and plans for a new Vanquish are being prepped for a 2010 introduction. At the moment, AM is selling 2500 DB9s, 4200 Vantages, and only 300 units of the V12 Vanquish (which is due to end production soon).

That's right, DBS won't replace Vanquish. Also DBS will be sold at a lower price than Vanquish according to UK magazines. They will be making a new replacement for the Vanquish
