Default Lightweight E Type_Low Drag Coupe

After dani's Abarths, it’s time for me to introduce a new classic in this section :

The Jaguar E-Type Lightweight

Short History :

Shortly after the introduction of the E-type, Jaguar management wanted to investigate the possibility of building a car more in the spirit of the D-type racer from which elements of the E-type's styling and design were derived. It was designed exclusively as a coupe since the aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer considered that a closed-top car is easier to make light and aerodynamic - unlike previous Jaguar racers which were exclusively build as open-top cars. The production E-types used steel bodies, the LDC used lightweight aluminium.
The chassis remained steel. It used a tuned version of Jaguars 3.8 litre engine made of light alloy, with a Lucas guillotine mechanical fuel injection.
(from 272 h.p.to more than 320 h.p. depending on the model.)

How it sounds :

Now that's one amazing car!
I have seen one racing before and recently saw some footage from the 2005 Goodwood Revival. Lightweight E-Type 1&2 followed by Ferrari 330LMB 3rd.
Those are really fast. Silky sound too.

A true jag.

these were only made for racing, right? not a proper production model i suppose...i dunno why!

They were built in order to increase E-types potential in races like le Mans, and also to fight the Ferrari 250 GTO...
12 or 13 Lightweight were produced.

Yet, if you've got about 200000 pounds , you can buy yourself a very nice copy of the LDC, made by LYNX , in England...

200k for a replica? or is it a modified E-type? that's amazing.

if i had the money, i'd buy that thing over any of the modern supercars at the moment.
They modify normal E Types and convert them into LDC. They also use the E Type base to make XKSS and D Type replicas.
