And on that bombshell, the 1 series is the 2nd ugliest BMW you can buy today. Nothing can top the X3.... yet.

The price would definitely throw the 130 out of it's class of competition.
How much is the price diff in Canada? Here in the UK, the base 330i is £29k, without a lot of extras, compared to £26k for the 130i, which has most of the options as standard. £3k is about USD 6000. To get the same kit in the 330i as you would standard on the 130i, you would have to spend about £32k... that's £6k, or about USD 12000...

To us living in the UK... that's not really just a few grand more... £6k is the list price for a Citroen C2!!!

you don't buy just HP the series1 has a lot of technology inside and that cost a lot of money, when you can taste the work of (and when you can disconnect it too, for the enthusiast) is a great package...I don't see just a shape, I see all the technical data...

Believe me, if the 330i was only £22k here, you wouldn't begin to imagine the amount of 130i's you will see.

Yes I love Hot Hatches, but I don't think you can ever really class this as a hot hatch due to the fact that it's a BMW to start with, but more importantly the price this "mini BMW" is going to set you back.

I have no idea of the exact price, but it genuinely wouldn't surprise me to find it comfortably over £20k before options. Yes of course you will get a well sorted RWD hatch, but I think that sort of money is much better spent on other cars.

Quick look on Autotrader - £21,950 for a 2002 e46 M3 with 50k miles. I just cannot understand who would want to spend that amount of money for a big engine in a small BMW, when alternatives as strong as used e46, let alone an older M3..
I love hot hatches too, and see this as the natural way for BMW to enter that market. Saying that it isn't a hot hatch because it is a BMW is a bit absurd. Brand should be irrelevant, and that it is RWD is just one of BMW's principals. The price doesn't work either, because I don't think that the Golf R32 and A3 3.2 are very much cheaper. You can't compare a used car to a new one. It's never the same. How would we get used cars if no one bought new cars?

I can agree that a hot hatch isn't what it was. The expression has lost it's meaning in a way. Earlier it meant a light, agile and relatively powerful car. Now a days the power is more important than the weight, and I don't like that either.

Back to topic: I think that this is a great car! A large hot hatch with RWD handling. I like the looks too. There are too many boring looking cars out there! The 7-series is still ugly, but the 5-series has grown on me to become a pretty car, and the 1-series is already nice.

The 120/130i is a new german car, and the german cars aren`t so beautiful (like Alfa Romeo for example) but they have a weird beauty, with more passion, more taste and that looks in the configuration, RWD, this is not only a beauty face, however it looks different without become ugly.

Mew announcement: BWM introduces the 130 i in Mexico, the price is about 38-40K USD, anyone knows the price in another country? The 120i starts in 26.5k and ends in 28.5k here, 1 liter more for "only" 13.5k! its not possible.
