M3 vs S4
Which car would be the winner, overall numbers 0-60, 60-0, skid pad g rates, reliablility, gas mileage, trunk space. and dont forget longevity; we like to play with our cars for along time. haha and of course the over all cool factor?

M3 = holligan, S4 = Navy seal (calm, refined, and smart). Overall I'd say the M3 is better. There have been some tranny problems with the manual S4s, but then again there have been a few exploding M3 engines. But it's too close to call witch one is truly better than the other, it just depends on your needs.

Let me refer you to the discussion in the E46 M3 blown engine registry I believe this has been shown to be a moot point by now.
The M3 is more aggressive in all points. Fuel mileage is exceptional given it's intent. i belive 26 Highway and 19 city.

There's been numerous reviews from "professionals" and industry experts on this subject all over the web.
My opinion, without a doubt M3. But then again, I am somewhat partial since I am a BMW fan.

S4. Quattro power makes it good in the snow and off the line. Plus the bose stereo sounds great for long trips. I would say an M3 is good for a city cruiser while a S4 is good for long traveling. Correct me if im wrong, but i think the gas tank in teh s4 is bigger too.

lol , everso as a faithful audi owner tells you to get an s4
as a "drivers" car a M3 should be the best. If you consider gas mileage, also you should consider the bmw. with the acceleration, skid and braking, the bmw wins by a mile.
as I believe, the S4 has more trunk space, drinks lots more of fuel, weighs more, but is comfier, more relaxed drive. But, as everso says, it has AWD and that means more safe rides when you know how to do it. This would be my choice if I were a long distance cruiser.
IMO the S4 is the best car overall if I don't consider gas consumption, depreciation (here audi's depreciate a LOT) and a more "grown-up" look
but, the M3 is a more "fun" car, but I would not choose it because all my friends want one (or an M5), and I don't like that much to be a sheep

you speak like a grown man
btw do you have family (wife, kids) to say that?
that was a point that I did not consider, the S4 is the family car, and the M3 is your toy when you only have your girlfriend with you

Which S4 are we talking, the latest shape V8? I'd take that over the M3.
If it was the 2.7T on offer I'd take the M3.
Good point too about the audi, Thamar.

This your opinion and like the ass, it got two sides and everybody got one........
The E46 M3 looks extremly good no doubt about it, it also looks like a seriously fast car....wich makes it even more fun to beat it in a classy looking S4.........
And yes I would choose the S4 with NO doubt at all......
|
Im not excepting other to agree with me. Im entitled to an opinion.
You take the S4 I take the bimmer , nothing more we can say about it. And Im not saying M3 is faster than a S4 all the time at any track , its up to the driver who is the fastest.

In my opinion the S4 is the most rational choice. You cannot decide how the temperature will be, but you can choose your car. Under this condition I selected an all weather powerful car: The S4. I don't know where you live, but me here in Canada as all Nordic countries , all M3 are sleeping in the garage for the winter ! While all owners of S4 have a big smile on her face each time it snows.
