…well, as you can imagine this is more or less top secret and PAG always want´s to keep their secrets, just think of the CGT presentation in Paris…
so, I can only tell you some details, there are some major plans for a quite big comeback in endurance racing, LeMans of course, then ALMS and european endurance racing leagues…
a “good� step towards all this has been the replacement of mr. Ampferer who´s been in charge for all this since ´95, his successor, mr. Hartmut Kristen is one of the most courageously motorsport „freaks“ i know, and those who know something about Hartmut´ll know that he´ll die for a motorsport comeback with Porsche…
as far as the “with what?� is concerned, there´re some options, but as an official i´m not allowed to talk about ANY details, just some hints…
so we already talked about the mid engine V8 car, some say there´ll be an LMP car, and the latest rumor after the 997 launch…time for a new 997 GT1…

…sorry guys i´d love to do some discussions with you on that topic cause motorsport is what i´m also interested the most…
i´m afraid we have to wait and see, another little info: PAG plans an official statement on all this by the end of ´04 … 8)

Gemballa GT 600

Look to that " car "!!!
For me is not a car: better " airplane ".Gemballa is the name of a big tuner of Porsche and this model has got 600 terrificant bhp.
I don't know how fast it is but I red on the site www.gemballa.com that with a special performance kit, that car reachs 420 km/h!!!
To have an idea of the car I'm talking about, look the picture.

...just waiting for the latest SA mag, it has a test, unfortunately NOT the supertest ( will come sometime in fall...) with a 997S ( with PASM, no PCCBs), here´re some of the test figures, scan to follow asa i´ll get my copy ... monday i think...

lap time HHR:1.15,6sec

unfortunately weather hadn´t been that good for testing, way too hot (32°C air, 44°C track ) so the editor told that a better lap time is easily within reach...

just image with PCCBs and cooler temps it could be as fast as a 996TT 8)

Looks fast yet the 300hp 996 posted a 1.15,9 time in SA while the 2002 320hp 996 1.17,9. Certainly these were under different conditions and aren’t directly comparable.

St-anger could you possibly explain why higher temperatures would result in slower times for a naturally aspirated car. I understand how engine horsepower would be slightly reduced as volumetric filling of cylinders are decreased but this would be offset to some extent by lower air resitance. Besides the tight HHR track is more dependant on cornering power. I'm guessing that the higher tempatures affect tire grip and are responsible for slower times at high temps. However, I thought tires have greater stick in hotter temperatures. You always hear talk of race drivers trying to get some heat in their tires.

I could see how extreme temperatures would reduce the tires coefficient of friction. I'm sure the differencing in tire compounding allows race tires to withstand higher temaptures before losing adhesion but on the other hand I also would have thought that the harder rubbered street tires might be more resistant to heat. While 44 degrees Celsius is really hot would it be in that range where tire grip is becomes less optimal or is there some other factor that I’m not considering ?

FRANKFURT, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Volkswagen AG <VOWG.DE> and Maserati Spa dismissed on Friday a report that Europe's biggest carmaker had decided not to use the Italian sports car group's Quattroporte model as the platform for its new C1 luxury car.
In an unsourced report, Italian newspaper Il Giornale said Volkswagen had scrapped the idea of using the four-door Quattroporte as the platform for a model that would compete with the BMW <BMWG.DE> 5-series and Mercedes <DCXGn.DE> E-Class.
"The Germans in fact chose neighbour Porsche AG <PSHG_p.DE> to develop the new model," the paper reported.

This new 997 GT3 looks really good in my opinion. Especially with these three-piece alloys . Porsche should sell them. In addition, the front air dam and the rear spoiler are nice too.
