I have seen a few of them, here in Belgium. We encoutered one during a visit at the Nurburgring 2 years ago, I geuss that the car had just been launched then. It was a W12, I have a few pictures of it
It is a superb car, the quality, the comfort ... an example: the airco-system that comes with it is just superb, best of the best. But indeed it is far from a best seller. Last week there appeared an article in the newspaper about the phaeton, the whole concept around it. It is just a disaster for VW, it costs VW a shit load of money. But, they probably do it for the prestige in the first place. Piech (ex-director/ manager with VW) once said that they want to have the answer when another make builds a high class car. This car is overkill to the S-class, but what now hey ??!!
I think it is true by saying that 90 - 95% of the people who can afford themselves a car out of this range will probably buy the Audi A8 or the S-class.
I would definitely choose the A8 > Lord Of The Rings
Thanks for the link man, cool test !!!
Cheers

THX.
If they took the Paheton and put it under Mercds skin, it would be much more popular. This VW is a fantastic machine, just got the wrong badge.

I just saw a Phaeton for the 1st time yesterday in the Best Buy (electronics Store) parking lot. It did look pretty nice from the outside and when I looked through the window at the interrior I was amazed. It looked like one of the most upscale interriors that I've ever seen, ....Very Nice car.
