the GTC should be a 4door sedan to compete e.g. with the 612 from Ferrari... to be honest i really like the idea of the GTC, it´ll be a great car, VERY powerful too, trust me , ppl shouldn´t reduce Porsche just to "911" and realize that this times are over...
|
hmmm ok then its ok with me, it must remain a really fast car, not like MB's CLK 320 or something like that.
BTW i am not at all a "porsche=911"-kinda guy, 1 of my fav porsches is the 928

With out a doubt the most noticable new feature are the HUGE air intakes for the rear mounted engine...
I can't wait to see what kinda power theyre pushin out of that flat 6... I think the new 911 turbo will be quite a performance gain...
|
thats whats supposedly the making of new cars is about, makin a better design and performance of the previous model, and i think porsche always has done the like that, dont think at all they will let us down with some ugly car that doesnt have a better perfo...

Intresting news about the 928. I think Porsche should remake the 928. I would like to see 993 like headlights. For an engine, i would like to see..
Litres: 5.5
Cylinders: Turbocharged V8
BHP:460
Torque: 440
0-60: around 4.5 seconds
Top speed: close to 200 mph

St.Anger I was just wondering about your take on the recent autoweek 0-100-0 test. The CGT did an 11.64 I think, just about what autoweek predicted.
Do you happen to know if that was a production car or if it was just another flogged out test mule?

Mmmmm ... the interior does not convince me , i think the 996 interior is way better , that is a little Chrysler Crossfire in the center

St. Anger you really weren't kidding when you said the CGT was faster than the ones being tested. The new C&D test is absolutely insane.
The Enzo is faster in a straightline like Walter Rohrl said, but no wonder it is just as fast on a track and probably faster at the Ring specifically.
One of 3 normal road cars with a 0-100mph less than 7 seconds. Its speed suggests the Enzo is probably as quick as it's absolute best estimates, but omg the CGT is much faster than expected.
I'm going to wait on braking because the Enzo was tested at Fiorano, but I am very very impressed.
Here is the link to the scan section so that the poster gets the credit.

Porsche Design Presents World Premiere at Baselworld 2004
The first chronograph with mechanical-digital stopwatch display
Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, Bietigheim-Bissingen, is attracting attention at this year's international watch and jewellery show in Basel (15 to 22 April 2004) with a new innovation: The subsidiary of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is presenting the new "Porsche Design Indicator" to the specialist world – a lavishly designed watch that combines chronograph functions with a mechanical digital display for the first time. This is made possible by what is currently the most complex, series-production wristwatch movement in the world operating inside this timepiece.
The "Porsche Design Indicator" is a groundbreaking innovation in the world of mechanical watches, as it shows stopped time intervals up to nine hours and 59 minutes in large digits. It was developed by the Swiss watchmaker Eterna SA, Grenchen, which is owned by the designer and Porsche Supervisory Board member, Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. The price of the "Porsche Design Indicator" is EUR 65,000(including value added tax). Production has been limited to 50 units per year.
To power the "Porsche Design Indicator's" conventional functions, the developers selected a mechanical movement based on the automatic-calibre ETA/Valjoux-7750. However, the design for the main plate and bridges is completely new. In order to keep the overall height as low as possible, the Eterna watchmakers deliberately avoided a simple modular construction in favour of an integrated solution. To accomplish this, far more than 400 individual components had to be newly developed and fitted into special separator parts. In total, the complex mechanism of this chronograph consists of more than 800 individual components.
The design of the "Porsche Design Indicator" is consciously reminiscent of the styling of the high performance Carrera GT sports car. It represents dynamism, precision, power, state-of-the-art technology and perfection. The housing is made of the light and yet highly durable material titanium. The watchcase is waterproof to 50 metres, boasts a diameter of 49 millimetres and a thickness of 18 millimetres.
As with the first Porsche Design titanium watch in the 1980s, the buttons on the new "Porsche Design Indicator" chronograph are elongated, reflecting the design of the Carrera GT's pedals: full-length cross ribbing improves grip, and a two-to-one lever ratio makes the stop-button easier to use.
On the reverse of the casing, a sapphire glass bottom plate fixed with six screws allows a view of the oversized winding rotor. This – like all watch models in the new collection from Porsche Design – is weight-optimised: the blade of the rotor has been delicately worked with titanium on the inside, which contributes to a low mass while retaining a high level of rigidity. On the outside, however, the blade is made of solid red gold, to generate the necessary winding energy for the four spring barrels. The rotor's design is based on the look of a Carrera GT wheel rim.
This sporty chronograph comes with a robust, yet comfortable, soft caoutchouc band with a secure double hook clasp. On the inside, the black band matches the tread of the high performance tyres on a Carrera GT. This is not just attractive to look at, but also offers functional advantages: the tread grooves allow the skin to breathe, thereby reducing sweating.
what can i say.....a must have

ok, ok haven´t had the time fort hat, but it´s definitely worth posting, “Sport Auto” tested the 2004 GT2 some time ago and finally they published the test in the latest issue, unfortunately no supertest, so no NS time, sorry…
BUT, the rest of the test is just amazing, but see yourself:
test conditions:
air temp.: 16°C
track temp.: 14°C
barometric pressure: 1021mbar
0-62mph ( 0-100kmh) : 3.8sec
0-124mph ( 0-200kmh ): 11.8sec
top speed: 198mph ( 319kmh ) …IMO, it´ll definitely run 205mph+ ( trust me, it doesn´t have 483hp it has ~500 for sure )
62-0mph ( 100-0kmh ): [email protected]/s²
124-0mph ( 200-0kmh ): [email protected]/s²
av. Fuel consumption: 13.7ltr SP 8)
lap time HHR: 1,11.6min
18m slalom: 68,9kmh
max. g´s: 1.25g
so these are some astonishing figures, and all that with street tyres ( Pilot Sport N2 ).
it´s even fast than the GT3RS at HHR and also than the Lamborghini Gallardo…
the GT2 scores 50 points out of 60, not because of the bad performance, 10 out of 10 for lap time, 0-62, 62-0 and power-to-weight ratio, 9 out of 10 for 18m slalom, only the CGT is better here, BUT only 1 out of 10 for cost/performance ratio, here in austria you get a “naked” GT2 for €230k…
no need to translate the whole article, this car is just perfect, steering, braking, acceleration, handling even better than the previous version, the only real disadvantage they could find:
the annoying sound of the cold PCCB´s in the city…
GT2 model overview

What do you think of the CGTs recent performance in C&D?
