Any Legal Racer's here?
This is a re-assigned first post!
I am wondering whether there are any legal racers here,
be it auto-cross, track racing or Karting.....well maybe drag racing for the ones with money and no skill.....like pushing a button. WHat I would like to know is what the car is and what they enjoy from the races.....what I am getting at is......do you like racing for racing or do you like technology without knowing anything more than the "Internet" thaught you from other peoples experiences.
just shooting the breeze.........

I think we covered this in the past but what the heck. I have competed in a few autoxs, roadracing, and (shudder)drag racing events. I otc quite often.
The current car is for sale.. A heavily modified in terms of suspension 88 camaro iroc-z. Cheap, disposable, and pretty fast with more then 5000 in suspension mods.

I started out in drag racing then started AutoXing, then went open tracking. I've done recreational karting, but it's bitten me enough that I'm looking at getting a go kart and joining a local track for more "real" karting. But currently, I mostly bench race.
As a side note, drag racing actually requires a good reaction time, and if its not a grudge match, requires consistency and a fair working knowledge of the car you're driving so that you can pull out a good estimated ET when running in handicapped drags. I've come to understand amateur drag racing as also having to deal with putting a car together well also. I used to feel like it was skill-less, but I think it has it's own list of skills and talents that are needed. However, I speak of the more serious amateur drag racers that show up every week, testing new tricks, etc., rather than the occasional "fun drag" kid that shows up to the track just to check it out and hang out for fun.
I like reading about technology sometimes, but I mostly like racing for the speed. I don't really enjoy AutoXing anymore because it's a "bang for the buck" issue when you compare it to open tracking. But speed is speed and I'll do an occasional AutoX just for kicks, once in a while. I'd rather go karting now instead.

Hemi: You're thinking MotoX (motocross). AutoX (Autocross) is a track set up on a parking lot or somewhere with a lot of room. The course is defined by cones and you race against the clock for the lowest time around the track. Each cone you hit, you get seconds added onto your time. AutoX is also called "Solo II" by SCCA. Here's some information:
http://www.scca.org/amateur/solo2/index.html
They also have RallyX, which is off-road autoXing:

I use the Evo for autocrossing.. But I stoped going for the last 2 event's ... I'm waiting till December for the big track to finish.. then we are talking driving skills at high speed..
I am setting up my mini for the autocross.. Hopefully it will beat the hell out of most of the car.. coz this car really can more around fast.. and handles more like a kart car rather than a small car. .
By the way autocross is the one where you drive around cones. If you hit it they add a sec to your timing. It really teaches you how to turn the car.. I learned a lot about my car and imporved my driving skills a lot.. I know now entering a corner very fast is not a good idea. Alway's understeers and I lose time.. Over all you don't have to be agressive just smooth and you will get very good timing and also might get the best timing of the day.

Well.. I got my racing licence & certification from Skip Barber racing school but I haven't competed in any series (pro dodge challenge), I think I need more seat time first... Last race event I attended was at Leguna Seca which was just a blast to drive but it can get a bit dusty. I will be competing in the Mazda Rev It Up nationals coming up soon in San Diego, but that's with a stock Mazda 3 car and not Karts.

I want to get into karting. The initial purchase is less to get into the sport, but it's still costs as much as my old car was worth. =)

Unless you are very young and aspire to race cars when your grow up or have a massive desire to drive karts for fun i think saving up and scaring yourself shitless on a Yamaha R1 or similar would be more worth it. 0X But its great fun as a hobby but it certainly is a money pit if you start getting serious.

I run auto cross and am a member of the Dragon Race Engineering drag racing team here in Denver. We compete in the NHRA King Street Class at Bandimere Speedway. Our web site:

I also race in many road course events out here at Second Creek Raceway.
