It's just much easier to exit the parking space when you're parked that way. On days when there are a ton of cars driving through the parking lot, it also makes it much easier to see them coming, so you don't end up reversing into them. It's especially useful for visibility when you've got a small car (such as a Celica), and you're parked in between mini-vans or SUVs.
I don't always bother to "fancy" park, but I do enjoy the benefits when I take the time.
Think it counts when you just drive through to the other side of the parking line (to the next row), so you effectively fancy park but without reversing?

I always reverse park unless there's a line of cars behind me in a small parking lot. I really don't see a problem with that unless u are holding other ppl's time.

what the hell?... This is how I park everyday, everytime, and everyone should. No matter how long time I use, I always reverse park. When you arrive at a parking you have complete overview. When you are backing out you are more likely to run over a kid or something.

Its illegal to 'fancy' park at my university. The rent-a-cops go so far as to ticket you for every hour your car is parked in an illegal way.

Yeah well on some UK campuses it is forbidden to bring a car, let alone park it there!
I think Manchester (the proper Uni, not the Poly ) falls into this category, or it did when my mate went (93-96)

In the state im in as im sure for others its illegal. But its because they do not have front plates in Indiana.
Also for pick-up trucks it is easier to park fancy once you are good at it.
