there really isnt a way round it that i know of - go to the site where you downloaded the file from and have a good look - it should be on there, or is there a readme in the rar - it might be in that

Passes are meant to "block" the file for ppl not knowing it.. so basically if you don't have the pass either you are not meant to have that file, either it's your fault because you didn't read.
There is no easy way around it obviously and I suppose it is hacker material.. and for a good hacker actually

maybe in download.com you can find some tools. In some searches I've done, I read about some programs that unlock, find, etc passwords from MS Office files, zips, etc

Those passworld recovery programs are useless to retrieve a winrar password protected file. It's either you have the pass or you dont and you're shit out of luck.
At least you found the password though.

Well i did know the password and I tried everywhere to search for it, but didn't find it. So i just started typing all the possible keywords, like the name of the file, and all the other ones I could come up with, but still didn't have any luck, than i just typed in the web page address (where I downloaded the file from), and BAM it worked. I'm so happy now .

My password recovery program works, but it takes a hell of a lot of time before it finds my 12 bytes long code..

I tried brute-forcing my regular password... 6 letters and 6 ciffers..
Time remaining: MORE than one YEAR..
I think I understand why they use super-computers for these things..
I told the computer there were excactly 12 characters.. I didn't feed the info on what characters were ciffers, and which were letters...
That means: 39*39*39*39*39*39*39*39*39*39*39*39 options = 12381557655576425121 = 1,2 x 10^19 options... Damn..
