i m thinking of getting the ultimate gaming computer but i dont know what computer parts i should get... what parts should i get. i m planning to spend up to maybe $5000(cdn).

my comp. box seemed like an ultimate gaming machine until it became not so new i only spent 1100 USD all said and done

that being said, i wont be building a new one until... when i cant play any new games with good refresh rates...
so, im likely to upgrade it this sumer

a second 512 stick of ram, new ATX power supply, geforce 6800 or newer, 2x100gb raid setup... and im sure that would last me at least another year or two

Go for a FX-53 its a 64 bit CPU which means future proofing.

you must not have gone to the link one video card is for the top half of the screen while the other one is for the bottom of screen

Theres a difference between multi screen gamming and Dual GPU's.
The Dual GPU of Alienware doesn't need software cos its a new device that does the synchronization.

Multi screen the images are splited vertically.
Dual GPU splits the screen horizontally.

Great idea - right up until the Video card manufacturers incorporate 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 videa adapters (complete with GPU's and RAM) on one card - meaning you can use said card with ANY motherboard..

basically each graphics card (both ATi X800 Pros) render half of the screen. both outputs are relayed to another card that fuses them together and displays them on the screen. awesome idea...

i would go with dual watercooled opterons. P4 EE's are wayyyy overpriced. dual opteon, 4GB ram, and X800 pro should do the trick haha
