Actually the Avanti is quite old, and the fastest Turbopropeller airplane, it looks a bit odd compared to normal airplanes, but it's shape is what gives it it's speed advantage, not to mention that the passenger cabin is much bigger than the biggest of it's class, flies higher thus avoiding bad weather mostly.
All in all a great design, they are getting many sales in the U.S. right now too, since it has low consumption and high speed.

I don't think this is quite correct... the P180, as far as I am aware is not a Ferrari developed plane - they just happen to own one with the Prancing Horse on the tail.
Unless I am mistaken and would love to be set straght in this regard...

Well, I don't think they used any of their 'down-force knowledge' when creating that thing

Dont see what part of it is so impresive =/ I only like fighter planes, I liked them more than cars when I was little. Now the story is different.

Read this carefully and you will see that the Avanti has no Ferrari in it. It only wears the badge.

Yupp. One has nothing to do with the other. I also don't think its especially attractive. I'd much prefer a Gulfstream G5 or a Cessna Citation X.

Yes, I have stopped following the progress of this plane like over 7 years ago. Wow, took them this long to get the plane ready for flight? Piaggio is a long-time aircraft builder and probably the closest thing in it that is Ferrari may be either the interior cabin design may have been designed by Peninferina. FYI- There was a contest held about ten years ago by Piaggio to name the aircraft. The winner would get a flight to the Piaggio factory and a tour of the facilities. And the winning name was AVANTI! How original!

Many pilots of the time were the opinion that a fighter pilot in a closed cockpit was an impossible thing, because you should smell the enemy. You could smell them because of the oil they were burning.
