Default Jan 10: Ferrari 355 indepth!

One of those cars you dream to be in or shoot and it finally happened. Sadly no testdrive, but a passenger ride in the mountains is heaven anyway. Impressive how this nimble car can feel painfully slow after a blast in the Exige. lateral Gs don't load up, acceleration out of corners isn't that frantic, let alone braking. Weight transfer seems to take ages and so on LOL.. in isolation this car is an absolute marvel, but for sure an Exige on full boost and semi-slick Yoko will east it alive any day.

Enough bashing. the smell, the soundtrack, the drama and aura. Only a few car can top what being in an F355 means for me. A Miura for instance, but not many others.

I easily run out of words. I was in awe the whole ride, unable to speak, unable to concentrate on the road ahead: just smiling, being happy and enjoying it fully!

Now, time for the pics. "Sadly" there was not much time left to shoot the cars, so the result is quite limited (2 locations).. and yet, I am pretty happy because I did it: I had a photoshoot with my favourite "real" Ferrari:

Nice indepth Matteo!

The 355 is my favourite Ferrari too always seen I first saw it in GoldenEye!

The pics are great, I love the comboshots with the Exige and the scaled model!

I have heared of other people, Jabba for instance that the 355 is a bit slow for these days, but any real Ferrari fan would still pick this over the 360!

Anyway great to see you doing stuff again after having a rough time TT!

I totally agree with your driving impressions. A modern sportscar can surpass a 10 year old F355 from a pure numbers standpoint. But it is in the character and the intangibles that makes a Ferrari memorable and IMO stand head and shoulders above normal sportscars.

I remember my first ride in the 355 very well - the sounds, the fury, the overall involvement in everything. It was magic. My heart was beating faster for several minutes after I got out of the car. The adrenaline was coursing thru.

I no longer give a fuck about the usual pub chat about road test numbers or Nurburgring lap times or whether a car can pull 0.99gs in a corner. I am not Michael Schumacher nor do I have the skills to achieve those numbers in normal driving. I am out looking for an involving ride. I have one in the 348 thankfully. Unfortunately a 355 was quite a bit out of my reach. Maybe one day ....

Love the pictures

the second part of this indepth-day

personally, I'm not that fan of the 355 as a car :bah:
I like both locations, the green background fits well with the red, the scale model pics are cool
Like that one
, the Exige "waiting" in the background, able to outperfomr the 355 but still having respect from the legendary F

Thanks Matteo, the F355 is maybe on a par with the Exige for performances and this one maybe beat it for roadholding but where the F355 tops almost every car is in its soundtrack

Very nice photoshoot, despite the lack of time! I also agree on your thoughts about the 355, the ride I got is still memorable though it was nowhere near the fastest car I've been in - something special about it, that was the current model Ferrari when my interest in exotics really took off.

Thanks TT.
