Bullshiter Toleration On Other Forums
Well besides JW I visit racesim central, and read some odd threads here and there depending what on what I'm reaserching.
What I noticed is the level to which bullshiters are tolerated. Not the case on JW, thats why I like this forum so much, people arent afraid to point out the bullshit in peoples posts.
But I have to say, the shit people say in other forums is incredible. Just shut a guy down on a computer hardware related thread were he was saying how he owned all these video cards and how there is so little difference between a 6600 and a 6800, and an X800 which he all owned and settled on the 6600........go figure
Why do they let people bullshit so much on other forums is my question. What is it? Are people afraid to call on the bullshit?

I call bullshit on your bullshit call
But - yes - people seem to just roll over and believe anything on some forums.

Well mostly because some forums aren't controlled enough. You call bullshit on someone here, and you can count on the mods to back you up and help you verify. On some forums, mods don't keep that close a presence, and the members just resign themselves to not calling BS on stuff, because they know all thats going to happen is a useless flame war, followed by a locked topic.

Forums let you hide behind a virtual character. Some people gain pleasure from making others think they've done this, or that. Everyone lies about their achievements anyway.
Speak with someone about the number of chicks they've bonked, and chances are they're exaggerating the numbers by 30% or 50% (or whatever, but you see what I mean).
There's going to be a time when you too will say something on a forum which is not quite true, I know I do it. But I don't bullsh1t about my car, the cars I've driven, or my computer. I don't think it's appropriate, and many, many people on other forums know me personally, so they could quickly call my bullsh1t out
That's human life, we all want to be better then the next person.

Lol I think that was an old Spike Milligan quote

A few months ago I saw such an example of tolerated BS, there was some sort of a "what you saw today" topic, people could tell what car they've just seen etc ... and of course, this kind of topic (without any pics or stfu rule obviously) is an open door to all sort of bullshitters. A member there told them that he lives in MC, he can see a lot of great cars everyday blah blah blah and claimed that an important "car hunter" website belonged to him (which was obviously not true).
He was so confident in his BS that he posted every pic he could find in that website's forum
And of course the other members did not even notice the random quality of his pictures, the different places (germany, italy, france ...) and above all that the paris autoshow cannot take place in june
He just cropped the copyrights and posted them, that was enough to be trusted and admired by the whole board ! I had never seen so many idiots on a single forum
Then I pointed that out (he posted some of my pics and that made me really angry), he did not even answer and stopped posting there, the other members didn't say anything ...
 That just shows how it's easy to post BS in some places and that's why I think our pics or stfu rule is great even if sometimes we do mistakes :bah:
