20 seconds in, if you look hard enough you can see that a ship is vertical, to think that the ones we have now are at least 40 times stronger than those atomic bombs.

VERY nice...just goes to show how dangerous these weapons can be when in the wrong hands.

Those water tests were actually the Hydrogen bomb tests in what was once the Bikini Atolls. My grandfather was on one of the observation ships when those were taking place. After he retired from the Army, he got a spot on the Nuclear Energy Commission. Guess what project he was assigned to

Jesus christ, those vids are fuckin scary. Dunno if anyone's interested, but i know a little about some of those clips. The opening sequence with the array of ships is from Operation Crossroads, and was a test known as Baker Event in 1946. It was one of the early a-bomb tests, and was detonated just under the surface of the water. The idea was to see how much radioactive water could be produced and how far it would travel, enveloping as many ships as possible. Another interesting one is the nuke that's shot from a cannon. That was known as the Atomic Cannon, the largest nuclear capable mobile artillery piece manufactured by the US of which 20 were built but never used. That shot is known as Grable shot from 1953, Operation Upshot Knothole, and was quite small, 15 kilotons, but it was the first test of an atomic artillery shell.

Scary all right.

The U.S is the only country to ever use these weapons on people.

Yet they are the ones trying to stop others from having them
