Default Pontiac and Saturn

Jalopnik has gone ahead and recognized that Pontiac and Saturn are basically dead as neither brand has any new products in its future.

Now, Pontiac isn't being killed, but isn't exactly being allowed to live and it's certainly not being allowed to grow. I'm hoping Pontiac is kept for the sake of the G8 and Solstice (neither of those seem right as a Chevy) and just for the sake of Pontiac not being completely dead.

And Saturn, I guess, really is going to go away. It's not too surprising being no Saturn is exclusively a Saturn. I liked the thought of a US Opel brand, but people never really caught on when Saturn moved upmarket. Blah.

As for Hummer (there's already a thread) and Saab, I know nothing new.

I'm going to bed to cry about Pontiac again.

Sucks about Saturn, that would be at least 8 Saturn dealerships in Houston going under, lots of people out of work.

The next 3 to 5 years are going to be pretty bad, expect the standard of living in the US to drop significantly.

I think I already said this, but GM should've never made Saturn. Whatever they did, it should've done to Chevy back in the day. But man. Pontiac? I would still be happy if the only car it made was the Firebird and the Solstice...

yeah... hope and change they said... motherf$#@%Y what really pisses me off is that there are more ethics violations, more blatant social engineering, more evil crap, corruption in the last month than in the past 2 decades, yet fucking damn it nobody knows it because the papers are not printing shit and the news will not get that Hussein boy's genitals out of their mouth

I liked pontiac, I liked it a lot, one of my all time favorite cars is a pontiac, you know what... am I alone in the sentiment that we are in a situation socially fairly similar to 1861? there is only so much crap people are going to take and it scares me, because it will erupt... and it will be a lot worse than protesting, protesting no longer does anything, I don't like socialism, I don't like to pay for welfare for fuckers that don't want to work and I certainly hate to find out that the governement would rather spend money in pet projects and programs that only liberals wanted instead of finding a way to help the auto industry and bring america back to producing goods

I read that Saturn dealers may want to take control of the brand than to just let it die. Which doesn't seem plausible since Saturn models are direct GM products.
